Ulrike has a hand-on style that she readily adapts to the level of the student. In my case, I was a complete beginner with no knowledge of the German language. In my role as group leader of Arup Germany, it was important to me to develop a comfortable familiarity with the language. I had a huge interest in Germany’s history over the last 100 years, including the resourcefulness and resilience of the German people and particularly the culture of Berlin. In developing my language skills under Ulrike’s one-to-one guidance and direction over a three year period I wrestled with the complexities of German grammar while thoroughly enjoying our conversations together.
 
Ulrike has a very pleasant personality, balanced with academic qualifications, well-suited to inter-personal interaction within a learning environment. She provided excellent insight into German protocols, including the mix of formal and informal communication so important and necessary within a business environment. But most of all, the classes were great fun as we battled with the formidable task of helping a brave Irishman to master a complex language, mainly due to her infectious humour.
 
I have no hesitation in recommending Ulrike to students of the German language.

Ich habe Frau Peonides im Rahmen des Fortbildungskurses für Lektoren an russischen Hochschulen an der Universität Potsdam kennen gelernt. Frau Peonides erteilte Unterricht in Wirtschaftsdeutsch. Ihr Unterricht war immer sehr interessant gestaltet, denn sie konnte zu jedem zu besprechenden Thema passende Unterrichtsmethoden finden und uns motivieren. Dadurch konnte ich mir die relevante Information sehr gut einprägen und die damit verbundene Vorgehensweise zur besseren Gestaltung des DaF-Unterrichts beibringen lassen. Frau Peonides erwies sich als kompetent, konsequent, freundlich und verständnisvoll. Ich hatte immer Spaß an ihrem Unterricht.

Ich bin sehr stolz und froh, schreiben zu können, dass ich bei dieser Dozentin, eine Fortbildung mit dem Thema Wirtschaftsdeutsch während meines Kurzstudiums an der Universität in Potsdam im August 2015 haben durfte ))) Ich war zuerst bei einer anderen Seminargruppe angemeldet, aber meine Gruppe wurde leider aufgelöst. So ging ich zur Seminargruppe von Dozentin Ulrike Peonides. Sie hatte Unterricht, ich pochte an die Tür, trat ich ein und fragte sie, ob ich in ihrer Gruppe weiter studieren dürfte. Obwohl sie schon genug KursteilnehmerInnen hatte, sagte sie mir sofort JA ))). Ich bedauerte danach überhaupt nicht, dass ich bei ihr im Kurs war. Sie gestaltete den Unterricht sehr interessant, wir besprachen interessante deutsche Sachen und Dinge im Unterricht. Was mir besonders dabei gefiel: ganz typische Eigenheiten der Deutschen: Tüftlergeist, wie ticken die Deutschen, worüber grübeln die Deutschen, also viele Dinge, die bei uns auch hilfreich sein können ))) Sie hat uns viele Materialien für unsere Arbeit gegeben. Sie hatte außerdem eine weitreichende internationale Erfahrung durch ihre frühere Arbeit (EU, USA) und erklärte viele Sachen, z.B. wie man sich mit den VertreterInnen anderer Kulturen benehmen und was man dabei machen sollte. Sie ist eine Frau mit Humor, wenn jemandem etwas nicht gelang, fand sie gute Worte zur Trost. Im Unterricht herrschte immer eine kreative Atmosphäre. Sie zeigte und erklärte uns vieles per Internet, Video, Prezi, Handout ))) Ich kann sagen, ich habe mir alles angeeignet, was mir damals an der Universität Potsdam von Frau Ulrike Peonides beigebracht wurde und nutze es bei meiner Arbeit.

Ich finde die Unterrichtstunden mit Ulrike sehr interessant: sie gibt sehr gute Inspiration zum Selbststudium, und das finde ich auch toll.
 
In den Jahren habe ich verschiedene Deutschkurse besucht und ehrlich gesagt, der Kurs mit Ulrike ist einer der besten, da sie so gut organisiert und immer professional ist, aber gleichzeitig freundlich und nett. Die Qualität Ihres Unterrichts ist sehr hoch und die Vielfältigkeit der behandelten Themen ist unterschiedlich und unserem Niveau angepasst.

Frau Peonides halte ich für intelligent, kompetent, kreativ, positiv und berufserfahren. Sie kennt sich in den aktuellen Materialien bzw. in der modernen Didaktik aus, kommt den Wünschen und Erwartungen der TN entgegen. Meiner Meinung nach wurde in den Kursen bei Ulrike Peonides auf alle vier Sprachfertigkeiten (Hören, Lesen, Sprechen, Schreiben) gleichermaßen Wert gelegt. Die Themenstellung war klar erkennbar, der Ablauf der Stunden war klar gegliedert. Rhythmus des Unterrichts und Kontakt mit den Studenten war perfekt. Frau Peonides zeigt immer Offenheit und Engagement und achtet auf die Bedürfnisse der Studenten.

Ulrike uses a variety of materials in the class, what makes our lessons very interesting. She is very professional, reliable and approachable. Having taught German myself at Harvard University and having learned several foreign languages, I feel comfortable saying Ulrike Peonides is the best foreign language teacher I have ever been a student of or known. Her knowledge of how to teach German is beyond reproach. Equally important is that she is student oriented. By that I mean she adjusts her teaching style to fit her students. She fits her knowledge of how to teach German to the needs of each student, not the other way around. She is also able to make a student feel comfortable, not defensive, when she corrects him or her. I know this from personal experience. I can recommend her without any hesitation. It would be hard to find a better teacher.

I highly recommend Ulrike Peonides to anyone who is serious about learning to read and speak German. As an adult trying to learn a new language, I was a difficult case, but Ulrike somehow managed to bring about a lot of progress.
